Framing Analysis of Online Reporting of the Film "Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso"

Abstract

The study aims to explain the differences in framing and focus of the topics to be highlighted between international and domestic media. The study method employed is qualitative, with samples collected through Purposive sampling and evaluated using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis. Out of the eight news stories that were chosen as research subjects, the domestic media focused on what transpired following the film's premiere, including reporting on the responses of people who were involved in the incident as well. Foreign media, meanwhile, concentrated on the events portrayed in the movie. It details all of the legal representatives involved in this case as well as the trial process, which is seen as a theatrical stage. The study's conclusions show local and international online news have different viewpoints about the news framing process. Foreign news can only concentrate on framing the film because domestic news is closely tied to this case.
