Abstract

Nutritional status is an important indicator of children’s growth and health. Children aged 36–60 months require regular growth monitoring to detect nutritional problems early. This study aimed to describe the nutritional status of children aged 36–60 months in East Java. A quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The sample consisted of 235 children selected through total sampling. Nutritional status was assessed using height-for-age (HAZ), weight-for-age (WAZ), weight-for-height (WHZ), and body mass index-for-age (BAZ) indicators. The results showed that most children had normal HAZ (192; 81.7%) and WAZ (189; 80.4%). Based on WHZ, 155 children (66.0%) had good nutritional status, while 152 (64.7%) had good status based on BAZ. However, stunting, severe stunting, underweight, wasting, overweight, risk of overweight, and obesity were still identified. Most children had good nutritional status, but regular monitoring remains necessary.
