Abstract

The increasing amount of industrial waste, particularly plastic rejects, recycled material rejects, and sludge, has become a significant waste management issue because some of these materials still contain energy that can potentially be recovered. One alternative for utilizing these wastes is through the production of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as an alternative fuel. This study aims to investigate the potential of plastic rejects, recycled material rejects, and sludge as raw materials for RDF and to evaluate their characteristics as an alternative fuel. The research methodology involved the collection and preparation of raw materials, including sorting, drying, and mixing at predetermined compositions. The resulting RDF was then analyzed based on its fuel characteristics, including moisture content, ash content, calorific value, and other relevant parameters required to evaluate fuel quality. The test results were subsequently analyzed to determine the material composition that produces RDF with the most suitable characteristics for fuel utilization.
