Abstract

The Korean Wave or Hallyu phenomenon has become a global cultural current that influences the lifestyles, language use, and identities of its fans, including in Indonesia. This study aims to reveal the forms of deculturation within the Wiz*One community in Yogyakarta. The method used is qualitative with purposive sampling, using community admins as key informants, online observation, in-depth interviews with five members, and documentation, with validity tested through source triangulation. The results show that deculturation takes place through three dimensions: changes in language practices, lifestyle transformation, and the formation of fandom identity in digital spaces. The use of Korean terms reflects linguistic hybridity, while fans imitate idol styles, increase their consumption of Korean content, and choose Korean cultural products. Social media plays a role in strengthening collective identity and accelerating the spread of Korean cultural symbols. The study also finds a decline in attention to local culture.
