Abstract

Terrain modeling is critical in site planning for complex topography, as shown in the SMU Unggul Garuda school project in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study examines Toposolid in Autodesk Revit 2025 as a replacement for the discontinued Toposurface tool for modeling existing ground surfaces in a BIM workflow. Topographic data came from a DXF survey with 15,531 3D contour vertices and 110 coordinate points (UTM projection, elevation 827–868 m). The method involved CAD data import, contour-layer selection, automatic Delaunay triangulation, and Type-level configuration with a 300 mm base thickness and Site-Earth material. Toposolid cut total modeling time by ~45% and revision time by ~47.5% versus Toposurface, mainly due to direct cutting and merging with building elements. Vertical accuracy (RMSE) was nearly identical (0.18 m vs. 0.19 m), showing Toposolid's advantage is workflow efficiency, not geometric accuracy.
