Abstract

Farming Gryllus bimaculatus crickets requires dedicated effort; environmental conditions must be monitored, and the crickets require regular feeding. These tasks become increasingly challenging due to labor shortages and unstable environmental conditions. This study involved the development of a system to automate the Gryllus bimaculatus farming process. The system utilizes a microcontroller to monitor enclosure temperature and humidity using a DHT22 sensor, a misting system to regulate air humidity, and lights to control the temperature within the enclosure. Additionally, the system features a motor-driven feeding mechanism that operates according to a schedule utilizing an RTC DS3231. Testing results over seven days showed high sensor accuracy, with temperature error rates ranging from 0.6% to 1.86% and humidity error rates below 0.56%. The automated system responded effectively to daily fluctuations; the mist maker activated when humidity fell below 65% and stopped when it exceeded 80%.
