Abstract

This learning implementation report describes the use of the role-playing method to improve fifth-grade students' understanding of mutual cooperation in an elementary school located in a disadvantaged area. Initial classroom conditions showed that students understood mutual cooperation mostly as a memorized concept, while direct practice and active participation were still limited. The implementation was conducted in one 2 x 35-minute meeting with 21 students divided into three heterogeneous groups. Students enacted school-based mutual cooperation activities by taking roles as group coordinators, cleaners, equipment keepers, and reporters using simple and safe cleaning tools. The learning sequence included role distribution, simulation, observation, guided discussion, and reflection. Assessment used an observation rubric covering participation, teamwork, and conceptual understanding. The results showed positive learning outcomes: active participation and teamwork each reached an average score of 85, while conceptual understanding through reflection reached 75.
