Abstract

Among adolescent girls, menstrual cycle patterns can reflect reproductive health and may be related to nutritional conditions. This study examined the relationship regarding nutritional status, as determined by Body Mass Index (BMI) and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC), and menstrual cycle regularity among female students at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo. A cross-sectional observational approach was employed, involving 61 eleventh-grade students recruited through total sampling. Data were collected through interviews and anthropometric measurements, with subsequent statistical analysis performed using the Chi-Square test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The majority of respondents had an abnormal BMI (63.9%), normal MUAC (67.2%), and irregular menstrual cycles (57.4%). Nutritional status as determined by BMI showed a significant association with menstrual cycle regularity (p=0.013), while MUAC showed no significant association (p=0.772). Thus, BMI-based nutritional status was associated with menstrual cycle regularity, whereas MUAC was not significantly associated.
