Abstract

This teaching implementation report documents the implementation of image-based learning media integrated with a three-minute exit ticket to improve fourth-grade students' understanding of plane figure area. The initial problem was that students memorized formulas without understanding area as the number of unit squares covering a surface. The strategy combined visual image observation, contextual questioning, group discussion, guided practice, presentation, and formative reflection. The implementation was carried out in two meetings on squares, rectangles, and triangles. Results showed that discussion participation increased from 40% at baseline to 88% in the second meeting, accuracy in calculating area increased from 55% to 85%, and exit-ticket scores of at least 2 increased from 50% to 82%. These findings indicate that visual media and exit tickets can strengthen conceptual understanding and classroom participation.
