Exposure to Problematic Childbirth News on Social Media among Third-Trimester Pregnant Women

The development of communication technology has made social media an important source of health information for pregnant women. Exposure to problematic childbirth news may become part of the information received by pregnant women in preparing for childbirth. This study aimed to describe the frequency of exposure to problematic childbirth news on social media among third-trimester pregnant women at Azka Medika Clinic, Candi District, Sidoarjo Regency. A descriptive quantitative method was used, involving 25 third-trimester pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected from May 1–30, 2026, using a questionnaire. The results showed that most participants experienced occasional exposure (68.0%), followed by frequent exposure (20.0%) and no exposure (12.0%). TikTok was the most frequently used platform (36.0%), followed by Instagram (32.0%). In conclusion, most respondents experienced occasional exposure to problematic childbirth news. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to use social media as an evidence-based health education medium.
