Abstract

The development of social media has transformed political communication into a more interactive process through digital conversational spaces, particularly TikTok comment sections. This study aims to analyze the political communication practices of the Gerindra Party within the comment section of its TikTok account, @partaigerindra, using a netnographic approach. A qualitative method was employed through non-participant observation of three TikTok posts with the highest number of comments published between December 2025 and February 2026. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The findings reveal that the Gerindra Party’s political communication practices reflect Brian McNair’s four elements of political communication: political organizations as communicators, political messages, media as communication channels, and the public as both recipients and respondents. This study demonstrates that TikTok comment sections function as arenas for political communication through dialogue, information clarification, public aspirations, and relationship-building between political organizations and society.
