Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia. The Non-Structural Protein 1 (NS1) antigen is a biomarker indicative of early-stage dengue infection that can be detected in circulation prior to the formation of specific antibodies, whereas the Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) reflects the balance between inflammatory and immune responses to viral infection. This study employed a cross-sectional observational design, utilizing medical records from 60 DHF patients at Haji Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Surabaya during the period of April–June 2026. Spearman correlation analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between NLR values ​​and NS1 antigen levels (r = 0.287; p = 0.026), characterized by a weak, positive correlation. These findings suggest the potential utility of NLR as a supportive parameter for assessing immune response, although its interpretation should be combined with other clinical parameters.
