Education on the Importance of Exclusive Breastfeeding and Complementary Foods
Edukasi Pentingnya Pemberian ASI Eksklusif dan Makanan Pendamping ASI

Exclusive breastfeeding is given from birth until the baby is 6 months old, without any additional food or drink. When the baby is older than 6 months, additional nutrition through complementary feeding (MP-ASI) may be introduced, while breastfeeding continues until the child is 2 years old. In Sidoarjo Regency, exclusive breastfeeding coverage in 2023 reached 62.86%, which is still below the national target of 80%. This community service aimed to determine the effect of education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach involving 26 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect before and after the education. In conclusion, most mothers had good knowledge after receiving education, and health workers are expected to routinely provide education on exclusive breastfeeding and MP-ASI.
