The Correlation of Hemoglobin Levels and Percentage Leukocyte Types in Pregnant Mother with Reactive HBsAg Conditions

Hepatitis B virus infection in pregnant women increases the risk of vertical transmission and can lead to hematological changes, including alterations in hemoglobin levels and leukocyte profiles. This study aimed to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and leukocyte percentages in pregnant women with reactive HBsAg results. A descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 30 HBsAg-reactive pregnant women at the Sukorejo Community Health Center Laboratory between January and December 2025. Data were analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk tes and Spearman correlation. Hemoglobin levels showed a moderate negative correlation with the percentage of lymphocytes (Lym%) (r = -0.522; p = 0.003) and moderate positive correlation with the percentage of granulocytes (Gran%) (r = 0.501; p = 0.005), whereas no correlation was found with Mid% (r = -0.332; p = 0.074). These findings indicate that hemoglobin levels are associated with changes in leukocyte profiles in pregnant women with reactive HBsAg.
