Hematuria is a condition characterized by the presence of red blood cells in urine, which may result from glomerular or non-glomerular disorders. Identifying red blood cell morphology, including eumorphic and dysmorphic cells, in urine sediment can help determine the source of hematuria. This study aimed to compare red blood cell morphology examined using the Sysmex UF-4000 automated method and the manual microscopic method. This analytical observational study involved 30 urine samples from patients with hematuria. The study was conducted in April 2026 at the Central Laboratory of Dr. Saiful Anwar Regional General Hospital, East Java Province. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, yielding p = 0.225 (p > 0.05) for both eumorphic and dysmorphic erythrocytes, indicating no significant difference between the methods. These findings suggest that the Sysmex UF-4000 provides results comparable to the microscopic method for urinary erythrocyte morphology.
