Effect of Moringa Leaf Extract (Moringa oleifera) on Total Cholesterol and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) Levels in Hyperlipidemia Condition

Hyperlipidemia is characterized by elevated blood lipid levels and can cause liver damage, leading to increased alkaline phosphatase levels. Moringa leaves may improve lipid profiles and prevent liver damage. This study aimed to determine the effect of moringa leaf extract (Moringa oleifera) on total cholesterol and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in hyperlipidemia. The study employed a pretest-posttest control group experimental design with five groups: a negative control group, a positive control group (simvastatin 0.9 mg/KgBB), and three treatment groups receiving moringa leaf extract at doses of 500 mg/KgBB, 750 mg/KgBB, and 1000 mg/KgBB. The study was conducted from May-June 2026. The results of the two-way ANOVA test showed that total cholesterol levels were significantly affected both the treatment group and the time group (p<0.05), while alkaline phosphatase levels were significantly affected by the time group (p<0.05). In conclusion, moringa leaf extract reduces total cholesterol and alkaline phosphatase levels in hyperlipidemia.
