Web-Based Digital Information System for Protected Wildlife in East Java with Distribution Map and Species Categories

Abstract

Conservation of protected wildlife in East Java faces challenges due to population decline from habitat degradation and illegal trade. To address this, an information medium is needed to support public education. The main issue examined is limited awareness among the public regarding protected wildlife. This study aims to design and develop a web-based digital information system that presents species data, habitat distribution, and protection status interactively. The system was developed using the Agile method with the Scrum framework, built with Flask, Folium, PostgreSQL, and an interface designed with HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. Testing was conducted through Blackbox Testing and user evaluation using the Likert scale, resulting in an average score of 3.82, categorized as agree to strongly agree. The findings show that the system effectively delivers interactive information and is feasible to be implemented as a digital learning medium supporting conservation efforts in East Java.
