The printing industry requires high machine efficiency and reliability to achieve production targets. However, PT. HLF has experienced frequent downtime on its varnishing machines, reducing operational performance. This study evaluates machine effectiveness using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and identifies major losses through the Three Big Losses analysis. The findings show an average OEE of 88.00%, indicating generally good performance, although a significant decline occurred in October, when OEE dropped to 69.04%, below the World Class benchmark. The primary cause of reduced effectiveness was Idle and Minor Stoppage Losses, contributing 66.91% of total losses. These frequent short stoppages had the greatest impact on machine performance compared to other loss categories. Based on the results, the company should improve its periodic maintenance system and establish standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce recurring downtime, stabilize production performance, and enhance overall machine effectiveness and operational reliability.
