Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia caused by impaired insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Chronic hyperglycemia may damage the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels. In Indonesia, red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roxb. var. rubrum) and coriander seeds (Coriandrum sativum L.) are widely used as traditional herbal medicines. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of red ginger and coriander seed extracts on cholesterol and triglyceride levels in alloxan-induced diabetic male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). A pretest–posttest control group design was conducted using 25 rats divided into five groups. The study was performed from July to August 2025. The results showed that the extracts significantly reduced cholesterol (p = 0.000) and triglyceride (p = 0.023) levels. These findings indicate that red ginger and coriander seed extracts have hypolipidemic potential and may serve as complementary agents for improving lipid profiles in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.
