Abstract

Abstract.Air quality in Krian District is recorded as one of the worst in Indonesia. Continuous exposure to carbon monoxide gas binds to hemoglobin more rapidly to form carboxyhemoglobin. This study aims to analyze COHb and erythrocyte indices among employees at RSUD Sidoarjo Barat. The research method used is a descriptive observational approach with a cross-sectional design involving 50 respondents, utilized informed consent and questionnaires. The results showed that the highest COHb levels were found in the group with a travel distance of 6–10 km (9.07%) and the age group of 26–30 years (8.75%). The results showed that all respondents had COHb levels above the normal threshold. The correlation between age and distance with COHb could not be analyzed using the Chi-Square test but was instead analyzed using numerical correlation in the form of continuous data.  Recommendations for further research include adding examination parameters related to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
