The Relationship Between Math Anxiety and Multiplication Learning Outcomes in Third Grade Elementary School Students

This study aims to examine the relationship between math anxiety and multiplication learning outcomes in third-grade students at SD Negeri Bluru Kidul 2. The subjects were 39 students selected using total sampling. Data were collected using an 18-item math anxiety questionnaire based on Ashcraft’s (2002) cognitive aspects and a 30-item multiple-choice multiplication test. The instruments were tested for validity using Pearson Product Moment and reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha, with all items declared valid and reliable. Data analysis employed the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Pearson Product Moment correlation with a 5% significance level. The results showed a significant negative relationship between math anxiety and learning outcomes (r = -0.470; Sig. = 0.003), with a contribution of 22.09%. These findings indicate that higher math anxiety is associated with lower learning outcomes.
