Application of Freeze Branding Tool for Cattle Using Arduino

This research aims to design a portable freeze branding instrument based on thermoelectric technology as a more humane and economical livestock marking solution. This system was developed using a Peltier TEC1-12706 module as the main cooling actuator controlled by a 32-bit Arduino Uno R4 microcontroller for real-time processing of DS18B20 temperature sensor data. Laboratory testing results showed the device was able to achieve operational temperature stability between -7°C and -15°C. Field implementation on cleaned livestock hides showed that with a contact time of 180 to 300 seconds, this device was able to produce effective permanent marks. This innovation offers an alternative livestock identification method that is more controlled, safe for animals, and applicable to smallholder livestock farming.
