Abstract

This research aims to design and realize a trash bin fullness indicator system based on Arduino Nano using VL53L0X sensor and ultrasonic sensor. The VL53L0X sensor is used to detect the fullness level of trash based on distance, while the ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the presence of users. The system is equipped with an I2C LCD as a display medium, LED and buzzer as indicators, and a servo motor as an actuator for the trash bin cover. The test results show that the VL53L0X sensor has a higher level of accuracy than the ultrasonic sensor. The system as a whole is able to work well in detecting the fullness level and providing an automatic response to conditions that occur. Thus, the designed tool can help in preventing waste accumulation and increasing the efficiency of waste management.
