Abstract

PT. XYZ is a heat exchanger manufacturing company facing workload imbalance problems between production stations. The initial condition of the production line shows a line efficiency of only 53% with a high balance delay reaching 47% and a Smoothness Index value of 298.29 indicating a significant workload imbalance that can cause production delays. This study aims to optimize the production line through the integration of the Line Balancing method with the Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) approach and ARENA software simulation. The results of the RPW calculation show that the merger of 7 to 5 work stations successfully increased line efficiency from 53% to 74% and reduced balance delay from 47% to 26%. . The integration of the two methods proved consistent and effective in balancing the workload, reducing idle time and increasing the overall productivity of the production line
