Father involvement plays an important role in children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, yet its role in raising children with special needs remains limited. This study examines the forms and dynamics of father involvement, focusing on emotional, cognitive, social, and behavioral factors. A qualitative case study design was used. Participants were purposively selected, consisting of fathers with children with special needs aged four years and above. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and participant observation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that fathers initially experience shock, denial, and fear, affecting relationships with their children. Caregiving responsibilities are often delegated to mothers, while social stigma leads fathers to withdraw. Behavioral involvement tends to be inconsistent and limited. Barriers include traditional gender roles, workload, limited knowledge, and lack of support. These findings highlight the need for family-based interventions and supportive policies.
