The company encounters challenges due to monthly demand fluctuations and discrepancies between raw material requirement and availability, which may lead to either surplus or shortage of inventory and consequently incrase production and holding costs.This research aims to optimize raw material inventory control and minimize total inventory costs at PT XYZ, as well as recommendations for improvements. To overcome these challenges, the study applies a dynamic progamming approach using backward recursion to determine optimal production decisions for each period by considering production costs, holding costs, and monthly demand levels. The analysis utilizes one year of demand data, amounting to 40.007 tons. The computational procedure is performed sequentially, beginning form the final period and progressing backward to the initial period, in order to obtain the set of decisions that result in the lowest total cost.
