Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Literacy Tree media on elementary students’ writing skills using a quantitative quasi-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were 30 fifth-grade students of SDN Segorotambak, Sedati, Sidoarjo, selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected through writing tests administered before and after the treatment. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, a normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results showed a substantial improvement in students’ writing performance, with the mean score increasing from 56.67 (pretest) to 82.50 (posttest), reflecting a 25.83-point gain. Since the data were not normally distributed, the Wilcoxon test was applied, producing Z = -4.825 and p < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. The findings confirm that Literacy Tree media effectively improves students’ ability to organize ideas, summarize texts, and express thoughts coherently, while also enhancing motivation, engagement, and active participation in learning.
