Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of CVT V-belt width variations on fuel consumption and V-belt durability in a 2010 Yamaha Fino 115 cc motorcycle using an experimental road-test method. The tested V-belt widths were 22.8 mm, 22.3 mm, and 21.7 mm. Fuel consumption tests were conducted at a controlled engine temperature of 65°C with a constant fuel volume of 25 mL, while the riding speed was kept relatively constant using a GPS-based application; each width variation was repeated to obtain average values. Durability testing was performed by operating the motorcycle for approximately 720 km and evaluating the V-belt condition visually. The results show that fuel efficiency tended to increase as the V-belt width decreased: at 22.8 mm the average fuel economy was 30.4 km/L, at 22.3 mm it increased to 36.9 km/L, and at 21.7 mm it reached 41.1 km/L.
