Age and Obesity with the Incidence of Preeclampsia in Pregnant Women

Preeclampsia is a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Maternal age and obesity are risk factors contribute to preeclampsia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age and obesity with the incidence of preeclampsia. The study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional design. The study population was all pregnant women in the second and third trimesters totaling 158 who met the inclusion criteria, the study sample used total sampling. Data were obtained from medical records and analyzed bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p <0.05. The results showed that the incidence of preeclampsia was higher in at-risk maternal age (72.2%), the results of the Chi-square test p = 0.002 and preeclampsia was higher in obese mothers (70%), the Chi-square test p = 0.007. The conclusion of the study maternal age and obesity were significantly associated with the incidence of preeclampsia.
