Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OHS) implementation is crucial in construction projects, particularly in high-risk activities such as concrete work in excavation areas. This study evaluates hazard levels and OHS risks in concrete work for a WWTP tank using the HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control) method and assesses the effectiveness of implemented control measures. Data were collected through field observations and questionnaires distributed to 40 workers, foremen, and supervisors, and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27 with validity, reliability, descriptive analysis, and paired sample t-test. A total of 20 potential hazards were identified in the ±2.5 m excavation area, most classified as high to very high risk before control implementation. After applying technical, administrative, and PPE-based controls, risk levels shifted to medium and low categories. The Sig. (2-tailed) value < 0.05 indicates significant risk reduction, confirming that HIRADC effectively improves safety performance in high-risk concrete works.
