Study describes Freddie Mercury's struggle to fight for his LGBT identity. This research is interesting because it not only tells the life story of Freddie Mercury and his band Queen, but also addresses important issues such as Freddie Mercury's struggle to come to terms with his identity as a bisexual. This study investigated how films depicted Freddie Mercury's struggle to come to terms with his LGBT identity, using a semiotic theory developed by John Fiske. This semiotic theory includes the theory of "television codes". Three levels, namely ideology, representation, and reality, can be used to analyze moving images, such as film and television. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach. The data was collected through in-depth filming, then recorded key scenes that represented Freddie Mercury's struggle to uphold his LGBT identity. The results of this study show that the film Bohemian Rhapsody contributed to presenting Freddie Mercury's LGBT struggle.
